Insurance

If your insurance covers orthodontic treatment, you will receive the benefit of reduced personal costs. Remember that insurance policies vary, and we will review your insurance to determine your benefits. Once treatment has started, we will file your claims.

We have learned that the better educated you are about your insurance policy the easier it is to process your claim. To help you learn more about your insurance coverage, we have provided some helpful information below.

Please keep in mind that our primary financial relationship is not with the insurance company, but with our patients and their families. We understand that insurance policies can sometimes be difficult to understand, so our financial team is available to assist you with your questions.

Orthodontic Insurance Benefits
Insurance agreements vary between carriers and their subscribers, providing each contract with different benefits. Generally, orthodontic insurance differs from medical coverage and very rarely will cover the entire cost of orthodontic treatment. Many insurance policies have a lifetime orthodontic benefit that is distinct from regular dental insurance. The lifetime maximum ranges from $500 to more than $2,000 depending on the type of coverage. Usually, the cost for lost or broken appliances is not covered by insurance.

How We Will Help with Your Coverage
Our financial team will be happy to help you determine your insurance coverage and ensure you receive your maximum benefit. We will generate a report explaining the orthodontic treatment, the required treatment, how long treatment will take and the cost of treatment. To help us with your insurance filing, please complete the insurance questions on our questionnaire.

How to Receive Your Maximum Insurance Benefit
Prior to treatment, contact your insurance company or personnel office to determine your exact coverage information. This will help you determine how much you can expect to pay for your orthodontic treatment.

Please remember that orthodontic insurance is a benefit for you or your child. Once your orthodontic insurance benefit maximum has been reached, or if, during the course of treatment, your benefits change, the financially responsible party is accountable for all charges.
